History

In 1998, Dripping Springs students Justin Glosson and Keith Stewart set their sights upon a goal: to create a fraternity that delved into the martial aspects of chivalry and the behavioral stratagem of Knighthood as a developmental tool. These goals developed and flourished for years. The original fraternity was named after their childhood icons from the movie Dragonheart, the Knights of The old Code/Knights of Valor, Virtue, and Truth (KoToC/KoVVaT).

Oldest symbol of our order: The constellation Draco on a black field with platinum dragon head, triumvirate triangles of Gold, Copper, Silver, with symbols for Justice (power), Mercy (courage), and Divine Wisdom. (Conceived 1998, finalized 2003)

In 2000, the fraternity developed an organizational structure of 3 Triumvirate Leaders and 12 Council members, welcoming Cody Cherry as the third Triumvirate member.

In 2002, the fraternity celebrated its first international member from Australia.

In 2003, the fraternity received its new coat of Arms, which included the equilateral triangle super imposed over a platinum dragon head. Courage, Power, and Wisdom were adopted as the principal pillars to the order, and a constitution was drafted titled the “Purpose, Passion, and Performance of Knighthood.” New members chose a name from the Draconic Language, written by Justin Glosson.

In 2005, the fraternity welcomed its first members who were also Freemasons, as well as the first College student applicant.

In 2006, the first camping retreat hailed a new era of membership and participation. Martial training began for all members anew and became implemented as a trial system for prospective members to become full members.

In 2007, permission was granted to Triumvirate Justin Glosson to begin a digital experiment in the video game World of Warcraft for recruitment and re-organization.

In 2008, the guild “Knights Regnum” was founded upon Moon Guard, World of Warcraft server.

In 2010, after a heated debate, members of the Council agreed to give sovereign domain over the digital encampments to Justin Glosson as its Grand Master, with the explicit instructions that if the digital organization misrepresented the local organization it would be dismissed and dissolved.

In 2011, one year later, the first national convention of the Knights Regnum met in San Marcos, TX, for a retreat and collaborative event where real life versions of the digital degrees were performed, as well as many presentations on mysticism and initiation welcomed old and new members alike. The Council of the Knights of The old Code elected to adopt the title Knights Regnum and merge the two fraternities into one. Because of this event, some members of the original council opted to cease membership, but others still took the charge to heart to continue growing the fraternity in the name of the adopted symbolism and purpose.

Later that year, the constitution is rewritten and the Grand Encampment is erected. The fraternity develops three distinct branches: Grand Encampment, Local Encampments, and Digital Encampment.

In 2012, Silverwing, Springfield, Lowndes County, and two San Marcos encampments are established under the jurisdiction of Knights who attended the conclave.

In 2013, the Killeen Encampment is opened.

In 2015, the Killeen Encampment is moved to Austin due to membership locations.

In 2017, all Local Membership was moved to the Austin Area Encampment #2 due to membership mobility. All other encampments were closed.

In 2018, the order consolidated into one body, removing the distinction between the Grand Encampment and each individual Local Encampment. The Digital Encampment was dissolved altogether, and the order returned to its roots: one organization with one heart. That same year, the development of our proceedings began in earnest again as we strike out not only to practice heroism, but to publish upon the teachings and practices we espouse.
